Feingold: I voted for Obama

From the Capital Times:

Sen. Russ Feingold said today that he voted for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama in this week's Wisconsin primary and indicated that he likely will vote for Obama's nomination as one of the state's "superdelegates" to the Democratic convention this summer.

"I really do think that at the gut level, this is a chance to do something special" for the nation, Feingold said, adding that electing Obama represents "an enormous historical opportunity for America and for our relationship with the world."

Feingold also floated a possible VP candidate for Barack: former Sen. George Mitchell.

Re: Feingold: I voted for Obama (none / 0)

Former Sen. George Mitchell...of the Mitchell Report?  Not a good idea.  I hate members of Congress who waste our taxpaying dollars on investigating steroids in professional sports.  They can't do anything about it or prove it.  BTW, doesn't/didn't Mitchell work in the front office of the Red Sox?  Hmmmm....

This administration is not sinking. This administration is soaring! If anything, they are rearranging the deck chairs on the Hindenburg!

The Mitchell Report was paid for and conducted by MLB, not by the government.

But, b/c of it, wasn't there a congressional hearing?  I also believe the Feds are involved, aren't they?

I just don't think he would be a good choice as a VP.

Re: Feingold: I voted for Obama (none / 0)

Oh, I agree about puting him on the ticket.  That would be silly.  I was just noting that he didn't have anything to do with a federal investigation.  That was just a bunch of Congressman who wanted to be on TV.  He was working for MLB.

Re: Feingold: I voted for Obama (none / 0)

George Mitchell is a little too old, I think. He's older than McCain, in fact. I'm now in favor or Biden for VP. Webb may be more ideal, but I don't want a vacancy in his senate seat.

Re: Feingold: I voted for Obama (none / 0)

Wouldn't his vacancy be filled by a Dem Governor?

Re: Feingold: I voted for Obama (none / 0)

I believe so, but I was referring to a vacancy after the term ends (2012). Maybe, I'm being excessively farsighted, but that seat was hard-earned, which makes me a bit protective of it.

Re: Feingold: I voted for Obama (none / 0)

Biden would be good, but I'm still holding out hope for Richardson. He could really cut into McCain's Southwest base.

Great to hear one of the greatest Progressives living voted for Obama.

Re: Feingold: I voted for Obama (none / 0)

What are Feingold's reasons for voting for Obama?
The same as other Dem insiders endorsing Obama - he a great orator, inspiring, etc.

Nothing about issues.

If you take a second to read the full article, Feingold specifies the issues that drove him to support Obama.

Re: Feingold: I voted for Obama (none / 0)

I lost much respect for Feingold for bashing and smearing John Edwards - in order to boost Obama.

Re: Feingold: I voted for Obama (none / 0)

BOOM!

That was a shot across the bow of the good ship Hillary.

Feingold was trying to stay above the fray throughout the primaries. Even revealing how he voted is a clear sign to team Clinton.

Bill Foster would agree, Barack Obama has coat tails.

Jumping on the bandwagon before all the voters have had their say.

you know what's sad (none / 0)

the democratic party is full of cowards.

I don't begrudge any person honestly supporting Obama.  Especially someone from the start.

But all of the politicians now seem to be doing the P.C. thing.  There is no downside to supporting Obama. If his start continues to rise, great, you were on-board. If he flails out, you tried to help make a historic reality.

I'm just saying, this portends bad news if we do sweep the november election.  These politicians are showing no backbone.

The Democratic Party right now are split almost 50 - 50 between Hillary and Obama, yet all of the Pols are following the Obama-mania.

It's understandable, but dissappointing.

To give you an example of how this matters in policy.

Look at the recent Illinois shooting, and Vir. Tech shooting, and how the Majority party ignores the crisis we have in gun violence.

We can take on the peril of our planet, but not the peril of being being killed everyday because of the nra and gun voters.

I really do wish Obama was for real. Imagine him standing up and saying, let the nra attack me, i'm going to attack the problem of guns.
